Explore the enchanted Fairy Glen, Isle of Skye in northern Scotland. The entire area looks as if it would make a wonderful home for magical faeries.
Magical Landscape of Fairy Glen
No one really knows how the landscape formed. Our tour guide’s theory is that it had been a very old quarry, as everything in the area is built from the plentiful stone scattered everywhere on the Isle of Skye.
This hidden treasure of done-shaped hills includes a pond and a rock formation known as Castle Ewen.
Look for the few Rowan trees that dot the landscape. The Rowan tree is known as a Faerie tree. In Norse mythology, the Rowan tree symbolizes the tree of life. In British folklore, the tree is believed to offer protection against enchantment and witchcraft.
Steven Spielberg found this area perfect for filming some of his feature movie BFG.

When we visited the Isle of Skye we arrived at Portree, a port of call for many cruise ships. We travelled on Holland America’s Zuiderdam. When we arrived we took a 5 1/2 hour shore excursion tour at a cost of £139.98 for 2 from Tour Skye. We chose this tour because of the good reviews on TripAdvisor.
