If you’ve ever dreamed of wandering the grand halls of Downton Abbey, surrounded by vintage fashion, whispered secrets, and timeless elegance, now’s your chance. From May 23 to June 1, 2025, Vancouver’s VanDusen Botanical Garden transforms into a floral tribute to the beloved British series with Fleurs de Villes: Downton Abbey, presented by Oakridge Park.

Vancouver’s creative floral artists have done the extraordinary with a breathtakingly stunning floral exhibition that celebrates the style and storytelling of Downton Abbey through fresh blooms, dramatic design, and a touch of old-world charm.

A Fleurs de Ville Garden Experience

Fleurs de Villes is renowned for its immersive floral exhibitions, and this year’s edition is tailor-made for Downton fans and flower lovers alike. Inspired by the aristocratic Crawley family and their loyal staff, each installation captures the spirit of early 20th-century England, when tradition met transformation and fashion was as much about class as it was about character.

You’ll encounter an elegant array of life-sized mannequins dressed in custom floral couture. Every piece is handcrafted by talented local florists, using fresh flowers to recreate the stunning wardrobes of characters like Lady Mary, the Dowager Countess, and even the impeccably dressed household staff.

Picture opulent gowns adorned in roses and hats covered in silver dollars. Think velvet textures and beaded details reimagined in petals, foliage, and moss. The artistry is exquisite, and the storytelling is powerful.

A Stunning Seasonal Backdrop at VanDusen Botanical Garden

The exhibit is set against one of the most beautiful times of the year at VanDusen Botanical Garden. Late May is when the garden bursts into full bloom, and one of the highlights is the breathtaking golden chain laburnum walkway.
This dreamy canopy of hanging yellow blossoms creates a magical walkway that looks straight out of a fairy tale or perhaps a Downton garden party. Visitors often describe it as one of the most photogenic spots in Vancouver, and during the Downton Abbey exhibit, it adds an extra layer of enchantment.

If you’re planning a visit, be sure to set aside time to stroll beneath the laburnum in full bloom—it’s a showstopper in its own right and the perfect complement to the elegance of the Fleurs de Villes displays.

Be sure to stop at the charming afternoon tea spot for the Oakridge Park’s photobooth, watch floral demonstrations or indulge in a botanical cocktail and check out the weekend flower market.
