From cultural experiences to iconic beaches, Courtyard Marriott Oahu North Shore puts you right at the heart of everything that makes Oahu’s North Shore so memorable. It was perfect for our multigenerational escape to the area. After four nights enjoying Waikiki’s energy at the Prince Waikiki, Melanie and I, along with my two young grandchildren, traded the city’s buzz for the laid-back charm of Oahu’s legendary North Shore. Set in the heart of Laie, this family-friendly hotel is close to the area’s famous attractions, yet far enough away to unwind in peaceful surroundings. It’s also right next to the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Courtyard Marriott North Shore Review
From the moment we stepped into the airy, Polynesian-inspired lobby, the atmosphere felt relaxed and inviting. When the smiling staff greeted us with genuine aloha spirit, I already knew we had found a home away from home, setting the tone for our stay.

Spacious Rooms Designed for Families
Our room was thoughtfully designed with modern decor, soothing island-inspired tones and plenty of space for our multigenerational crew. The two queen beds were comfortable and the layout made it easy to keep our belongings organized. The relaxing seating area, small fridge and a coffee station for early mornings before heading out on adventures were perfect for our family.
We really appreciated the enhanced bathroom amenities. It’s the first time I have had a selection of thoughtful facemasks to help provide extra pampering after a long day exploring.

Poolside Fun, Resort Amenities and Beach Gear Rentals
The large outdoor pool threw off five-star resort vibes and quickly became our afternoon gathering spot, but what made our stay even easier was the hotel’s expansive selection of gear available for rent. Whether you’re planning a relaxed beach day or a full ocean adventure, the Courtyard makes it simple. Guests can rent everything from snorkeling equipment and surfboards to beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, and even toys for the kids. It’s a thoughtful touch that saves families from having to pack or purchase gear on the go.
With its curved shape, shallow entry, and ample loungers, the pool area is perfect for families with children. While the kids played, Melanie and I enjoyed moments of relaxation in one of the several shaded cabanas around the pool, under the palm tree.

Active Court and Sports Options
For guests who like to stay active, Courtyard Marriott Oahu North Shore offers great court amenities; an outdoor pickleball court, volleyball and basketball courts (including a half-court). These are located near the pool/grass areas, so you can easily switch between beach, pool and sports. It’s perfect for kids, grandparents, or anyone wanting a little friendly competition during downtime.
Food and beverages can be picked up from the Bistro and taken to the pool area.
Fitness enthusiasts will find a well-equipped gym and the property also offers laundry facilities, a huge plus when traveling with little ones.

Cultural Experiences and Evening Entertainment
One of the most memorable aspects of our stay was joining in the Courtyard’s in-house cultural activities. We learned to string fresh flower leis, tried our hand at hula dancing, and even strummed our first notes on the ukulele. These hands-on experiences gave us a deeper appreciation for Hawaiian traditions and the kids were especially captivated.
On select evenings, the hotel also offers live entertainment, from local musicians to cultural performances, creating a festive atmosphere that brings the whole family together after a day of exploring the North Shore.

Dining at The Bistro
The Bistro serves breakfast, dinner, and Starbucks coffee, making mornings easier before heading out. While the menu is casual, it’s convenient for families who want quick service and excellent comfort food, plus kid-friendly meals until 9 pm, without leaving the hotel. For more variety, there is a nice selection of local dining options at the Hukilau Marketplace, a short walk away, or by car in Laie and Haleiwa.

Prime Location for Exploring the North Shore
One of the best parts of staying at Courtyard Marriott Oahu North Shore is its location. It’s directly next to the Polynesian Cultural Center, one of Hawaii’s top attractions, and across the road to the pristine white sands of Onini Beach and near Pounders Beach.
From here, you can explore iconic spots like Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach, and the charming surf town of Haleiwa. For a sweet treat, we stopped at a roadside fruit stand for fresh pineapple and shaved ice, a North Shore must.
