Cherry Blossom Festival and Sakura Days Japan Fair – April 12-13 2025

Celebrate Japanese arts and culture at the Sakura Days Japan Fair. Activities: The fair and festival include lots of interesting and fun outdoor and indoor experiences, including everything from taiko drumming to theatre performances and woodworking demonstrations to sake sampling. Visitors can also learn popular Japanese games, participate in tea ceremonies, sample Japanese food, and enjoy the renewed Japanese Garden display. Tickets must be purchased in advance online. Food Truck Festival at UBC – April 3-4, 2025: 11 am to 7 pm

Get ready for two days of food and fun at this festival, which includes more than 20 food trucks, local entertainment and an artisan market. Gate admission is free, but you still need a ticket. Location: UBC Commons, in front of AMS Nest.

The Vancouver International Burlesque Festival – April 4-5, 2025

Performances by headliners Scarlet Delirium (Port Coquitlam, BC) and Bee Bee Sanchez (Portland, OR), as well as captivating striptease artists from all over Canada. Expect imaginative acts by dazzling dancers, naughty nerds, satirical stripteasers, and more. Location: Vancouver Playhouse

Spring Magnolia Walk – April 5, 2025

The UBC Botanical Gardens has an impressive collection of magnolia trees. Their delicate white and pink blooms provide a beautiful splash of colour when set against the surrounding Douglas fir trees and towering western red cedars. Tip: The blossoms in the David C. Lam Asian Garden are particularly striking.

This is a walking tour and tickets are limited. While children are welcome, the walk is geared towards adults.

Hot Chefs and Cool Jazz – April 11, 2025

The Hot Chefs and Cool Jazz Gala supports Culinary Team Canada. Hosted by Fairmont Pacific Rim’s Executive Chef Damon Campbell, this exclusive event brings together 20 of BC’s finest chefs, each crafting a one-of-a-kind dish at live chef stations. These dishes will be paired with award-winning wines—all set to the smooth sounds of live jazz.

Ticket sale proceeds support Culinary Team Canada as they prepare to compete on the world stage at the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg (2026) and the Culinary Olympics in Germany (2028).

Chef Damon Campbell knows firsthand what it takes to win. As Team Captain of Culinary Team Canada in 2005 and 2006, he led them to gold medal victories at the World Culinary Olympics in Germany. Earlier, as a member of Team British Columbia in 2003 and 2004, he earned a silver medal and numerous gold and silver wins across Canada.

Art of Teppanyaki – Kobe Japanese Steakhouse – Monday-Thursday, now until May 31, 2025

Nuxalk Strong: Dancing Down the Eyelashes of the Sun – until Jan 5, 2025

MOA presents the world’s first-ever exhibition on Nuxalk Nation of Bella Coola, showcasing Indigenous sovereignty and reclamation. This exhibition is dedicated solely to the Nuxalk Nation who have lived for more than 14,000 years on the central Northwest Coast, in Bella Coola, B.C.

Discover the rich culture and worldview of the Nuxalk Nation and how the community is taking actions to strengthen and create robust futures for itself, including the revitalization of Nuxalk language, self-governance, stewardship, and ceremonial practices. One of these actions includes the Nation’s ongoing work with museums to support their efforts to reclaim and safeguard Nuxalk belongings, treasures, and ceremonies – including the return of a significant collection of masks, regalia, and cedar bark weavings at the close of the exhibit.

Nuxalk Strong will feature treasures and artworks housed at MOA, as well as loans from private collections and six participating museums: Royal British Columbia Museum (Victoria), Burke Museum (Seattle), Glenbow Museum (Calgary), Manitoba Museum (Winnipeg), and Museum of Vancouver. Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art – Kihl ‘Yahda Christian White: Master Haida Artist – until February 1, 2026

The Vancouver premiere of the retrospective exhibition Kihl ‘Yahda Christian White: Master Haida Artist. The multidisciplinary artworks from the past half-century range from intricate argillite carvings and monumental sculptures to ocean going cedar canoes and gold and silver jewelry – showing his lifelong commitment to the preservation and celebration of Haida stories, songs, and dances. In addition, the exhibition will feature numerous carved works created in collaboration with eight key apprentices, representing the next generation of contemporary Haida artists.

The Art of Bansky Without Limits – until May 25, 2025

Over 160 works of the famous mysterious British graffiti artist Bansky, whose works sell in the millions. Location: 1 Alexander Street, Vancouver.

Vaisakhi Parade – TBA

Vancouver’s annual colourful Vaisakhi Parade, known as Nagar Kirtan, starts at the temple and will follow the traditional route along parts of Main Street and Fraser. Last year, the parade was held on Saturday, April 13th. (note the Surrey Vaisakhi is held the following week) From traditional Indian foods and sweets to more mainstream food, parade goers are treated to a wide range of delicious offerings. As the story shapeshifts in real time, peeling back the layers of cinematic convention to pose unsettling questions about the nature of reality, nothing is as it seems.

Richmond Night Market – April 26-October 20, 2025

The Richmond Night Market is the largest market of its kind in North America. It features Asian street food, entertainment, and a wide variety of merchandise vendors. New this year is a Zip Line! Abbotsford Tulip Festival by Lakeland Flowers – April 12-Mid-May, 2025

Lakeland Flowers presents the largest tulip display in Canada. There are 27 acres of more than 70 varieties of millions of tulips, blooming in all different colours, shapes, and sizes. Take a walk along five kilometres of pathways lined with tulips. Bring a picnic to enjoy. On select weekends, there are food trucks and music. Before planning your visit, check the field report. Lakeland offers six months of flower festivals and tickets and season passes are available now. Free parking on-site, and the fields are open from early bird hours, from 6 a.m. until dusk. Get ready for ogre-sized family fun with Shrek the Musical, as the greatest fairy tale never told comes to life in a whole new way in this fun filled Broadway musical adaptation. Location: Abbotsford Art Centre.

Spring into Chilliwack and Dine Chilliwack – April 11-27, 2025

A two-week culinary celebration showcasing prix-fixe menus, two-for-one deals at restaurants, breweries and local attractions throughout Chilliwack. The Spring into Chilliwack cross-promotion passport allows diners to collect stamps that can be redeemed for two-for-one entry into Greendale Acres’ Sweet Spring Flower Festival or the Botanica Tulip Festival.

Botanica Tulip festival – Mid-April-mid-May , 2025

The Tulip Festival offers a vibrant floral display of 59 unique varieties of 1.5 million bulbs on over 13 acres. Location: 1310 Royalwood Drive, Chilliwack

The Harrison Tulip Festival – April 15-Mid-May, 2025

The Harrison Tulip Festival tentatively takes place from April 15 to Mid-May 2025. It features 12 million tulips complemented by the delightful fragrances of hyacinths and double daffodils. There are 50 different kinds of tulips to admire, along with more than 15 varieties of double daffodils and dozens of different types of hyacinths. New this year, the “Secret Garden” is now expanded to over 4 acres.

The festival was recognized last fall at the annual World Tulip Summit in Holland, earning the World Tulip Award for “Best Instagrammable Tulip Farm.”

We highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. Online tickets sell out fast, and if the parking is full, online ticket holders have priority. The festival is located at 5039 Lougheed Hwy, Agassiz.
